One Amazing Trip | Tanay, Rizal, Philippines

Last February, I and Aljene went back to our home country (the Philippines!) to spend our 2-week vacation from work. Since I and Aljene will be going home to our own families, we decided to plan our vacation separately because we wanted to spend more time with our loved ones.

I searched through the internet the best and affordable vacation spots near Manila. After some time, I found this Facebook post which showcases the beauty of Tanay, Rizal.

The Sierra Madre Mountain Resort-Hotel and Conference Center

The weather is very cool especially in the morning. The air is fresh and the greeneries are very relaxing to the eyes.

Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia (Regina RICA)

This is the place where you can pray and have a short reflection and contemplation. They sell various colored candles (depending on your need- ex. Aqua – for thanksgiving) which you can buy and light up, followed by a short prayer.

They also allow visitors to go inside the Regina Rosarii. Before entering the sacred place, you need to remove your footwear first. The first floor is the holding area where the staff will give a brief background about the place. She will also give instructions (DOs and DON’Ts) while in the prayer area, which is located at the second floor.

We had our lunch within the vicinity of Daranak Falls. Ohh, how I missed Filipino food! Most especially the “ihaw-ihaw” food like pork liempo and fish, and paired with itlog na pula (salted egg) kamatis (tomato) and rice! The best!

Bakasyunan Resort and Conference Center

Bakasyunan Resort and Conference Center has been featured in local TV shows and has been receiving high ratings and positive reviews and feedbacks by many people. These stirred up my curiosity and made me decide to bring my family here.

Since it was the “love month” when we stayed here, there were Valentine decorations in the main area of the resort.

Bakasyunan Resort and Conference Center offers various packages which will suit your needs and preferences.

Initially, we planned to get the Barkada Bonding Family Package. Unfortunately, all family rooms were already occupied. So. we availed of the Barkada Bonding Poolside Package instead.

After taking a short pool dip and catching up some rest, of course, our tummies were already growling and hungry for some good food!

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Menu for Barkada & Family Packages

We ordered Barkada Meal 7 which includes the following:

Chopsuey (1 order)

20170204_193345
Chicken Wings (2 orders)

These wings are the best for me! The spiciness and sweetness of the sauce are well balanced. The amount of the sauce is just enough to dress the chicken wings completely. The chicken wings are cooked just right. This is really delicious. A must try!!! 🙂

Beef Caldereta (2 orders)

Another must try is their Beef Caldereta. The beef is so tender, the sauce is really good, and the vegetables are well cooked. I must say, this is the star meal of our whole dinner experience! Cooked perfectly!

The package meal also includes 10 cups of plain rice and a tower of Iced Tea. I personally recommend this Barkada Meal 7. 😀

After our dinner, we decided to play billiards to enjoy the rest of the night. They also have other activities aside from billiards. They have table tennis and darts as well. For the adventurous people, they have zipline, rappelling, mudslide, ATV, and wall climbing, just to name a few. You can check their official website to know more about their amenities.

Billiards Table

Btw, it was really cold during these months (December-February) that’s why we really enjoyed our stay here.

Here’s my breakfast! French toast with strawberry jam, sausage, sunny side up egg and strawberry milkshake. Perfect! Btw, their milkshake is great — it’s very creamy and milky and not too sweet!

Overall, I and my family really enjoyed our side trip to Daranak Falls and had a great stay at Bakasyunan Resort and Conference Center. Thumbs up also to the management and staff of Bakasyunan Resort for being hospitable, welcoming and attentive to our needs! 🙂
